CoD MP problems

Post by Pedsdude » October 25th, 2006, 4:24 pm

As I got a new family pc recently, I decided to install CoD1 on it so that I could on a better PC and play against friends over lan. The install goes fine, no problems whatsoever, however when I try to run CoD MP it comes up with an error, with the "Send Error Report"/"Do Not Send" options. Singleplayer works fine, it only happens on MP. I've tried running in safe mode but it still happens. I've reinstalled it and still get the same problem.

Any ideas?

- Chek internet connection
- Drop firewall
- Delete spam/porn/adware
- Scan for virusses
- Start up with clean boot
That's why my brother's computer doesn't need anti-virus software; 450MHz P3 doesn't meet virus's system requirements.

No need to delete, just save it to another folder.

format. Solution to all problems.

If that doesn't work check all your drivers (sound, gfx mainly)

Why would I need to reformat/delete anything when the computer is pretty much brand new? It's got nothing to do with internet as I haven't even gotten to the stage of joining a server because CoD MP won't run in the first place!

It shouldn't be gfx problems because it worked fine with this graphics card on my brother's computer.

Its called conflicts.

"pretty much" new is as good as saying it is old.

the reason I said format was because it is "pretty much" new. A format is a solution to all problems and possible future problems.

Failing that, I would get hold of some registry cleaning tools as I it is possible the computer has some conflicting registries.

It could be a lot of things, and it includes sound, graphics, internet, hardware, software, cables, configurations, registry, files, drivers (or lack of), and more....

Format is my solution :)

Yep Windows usually dont fix files that are missing, however a format sucks because you lose all your files, and I have 700gig of files spread over 4 HDD's so i'm not always likely in the mood of cleaning it up by formating. Maybe your problem is a Windows Update, or the d3dx9.dll file.

Hmm, OK thanks for the help. I'll consider a format (although it's not likely because I have a large number of files I want to keep, and have nowhere to back them up).

Why can't bloody computers NOT have conflicts? :P

I might just make do without CoD1 on this pc...
