I almost cried, but luckily I had the feeling it was gonna be shit, as all Treyarch ever do is piggy back the previous product and ruin it more.

RC Car? Seriously gtfo.
You have the same basic thoughts as I do.

Between the RC Cars (lolz 007:Nightfire MP. Nostalgia, anyone?), knife launchers (...wtf?), in-game video surveillance, and the "Theatre" from Halo 3 (potential lawsuit from bungie?) I was nearly in tears as well. It looks like we will never have a plain FPS ever again.

Knife launcher irl:

I can't believe you guys actually expected anything other than this shit... *facepalm*
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P

Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)

Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs :wink:

Discussing Marshall's new camera lol^

I didn't expect it, but I hoped. Huge difference.

Either way, its ridiculous that you even had hope...

No it isn't. High expectations would be ridiculous.
The fact they announce dedicated servers is a ray of hope that the game can be salvaged, only in its current form it is shit.
you cannot argue that the engine this game is built upon is one of greatest (if not the greatest) engines of all time.

It is certainly not the greatest engine of all time, but it is respectable. Cry Engine anyone?

Dont know if the Cryengine3 beats Frostbyte but these engines are better than any we ever had. I guess the Cry-devs go to 3D.The engineers from frostbyte didnt have the patience even they support 3D later but not properly

The "iD Tech" style engine has not only an extremely fluid feel, it also has a better graphics engine than most others (and by graphics, I am not talking about the most pumped, over the top realism graphics).

Maybe its just the way I like to play games, I am not after the game with the eye candy, I couldn't care less about natural physics that modern era games are aiming for, The Unreal Engine I just do not like at all, and the CryEngine is more worried about visual effects than gameplay.
The source engine is great however, but the origins date back to Quake.

Code: Select all

Games using the Quake engine

    * Quake (1996) – id Software
    * HeXen II (1997) – Raven Software
    * Half-Life (1998) - Valve Corporation (Half-Life uses Quake 1 based GoldSrc engine)
    * Resident Evil 2 (video game) (1998) - Capcom (Modified version of Quake 1 engine)
    * Laser Arena (2000) – Trainwreck Studios
    * CIA Operative: Solo Missions (2001) – Trainwreck Studios
    * Urban Mercenary (2001) – Moshpit Entertainment
    * Silver Wings (2005) – Bampusht! (Silver Wings uses a heavily modified version of Telejano v7)
    * Tremulous - Darklegion Development
Quake - Quake 2 - Quake 3 Arena - Source Engine
[iD Tech] - [Id Tech 2] - [iD Tech 3]

The jump between Q3A and Source is of similar attributes tot he Jump between Quake and CoD, although they are not the same engine, one is based off the other. Obviously attributing in the old "Goldsrc" engine (which was also an off-shoot of the Quake engine)
