Map problem!
(Can't really come up with a more descriptive topic that gets the problem across)
Basically, I've been working on my map for quite some time now, but have come across a problem. I've just had about an hour's mapping session, and when I go to compile my map and test it NONE of the new brushes etc. are there. There were quite a few large cylinder brushes which were rather complicated, but none of them are showing (it's as though it's just using the old map file for the compile). I then decided to make a new brush in front of where I spawn to see if it would add that, and it didn't show up in-game after another compile.
I then decided to move the .d3dbsp from raw/maps/mp and compile again, but when building the fast file it came up with some error about unrecoverable file.
Long story short, I've gone back to my backup before the start of the session (I've learned from the CoD1 days to make sure I backup frequently!), and it seems I can edit that fine without problems. So, although technically it's no longer an issue, it would be nice to see if anyone can shed any light on the matter so that (a) I might be able to recover the hour of mapping I've effectively lost (when I load the .map I can see all the extra brushes etc. I made ), and (b) to prevent it happening in future.

Re: Map problem!
Look at your compile session. I already had this problem. In my case it said "reflection probe on x, x, x is in solid". And that was it. I had to replace the reflection probes, and with the next compiling my map was like it was in the radiant.

Re: Map problem!
Move brushes to new map file, compile.
Lets be honest, an hour of mapping cannot be too much detailed depth
Code: Select all
If compile works,
Move entities over,
If this works
remove all related files (csv's etc) and compile
else
check all entities for collision, delete and replace.
Else
Continue with backup, not worth the hour of mapping.

Re: Map problem!
It reads the IWD second, so yes, will always show the map in the IWD/FF file and not the new compile.Ykarus wrote:maybe u just left a .iwd file in your main and forgot kick it out when u compiled... i think if u choose run map than it runs the "old " iwd...

Re: Map problem!
OK, quick update
Copied .map file, opened in Wordpad, deleted all apart from brushes / worldspawn, opened in Radiant, added a spawn, compiled and it worked with the new content, so now presumably it was one of the entities/other? If so, I cba to find it and didn't have many at all anyway, so will just manually re-add reflection probes etc.
Thank you for the help.

Re: Map problem!
Had issues again, went to an earlier backup, compiled it, then went to build fast file and get the following:
Can see no .d3dbsp in raw/maps/mp, although I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary during my bsp compile.
Ideas?

Re: Map problem!
Hey,
I have had this problem many times, to fix the problem can be quite time consuming
things you need to check
- naming worldspawns with differnt names
- targeting world spawn
- renaming a class name of a reflection probe / golobal intermission / spawns etc
- welding objects that shouldnt be welded
- missing model names
basically your looking for somthing that you might have accidently renamed something that you shouldnt have.
the way to fis it is to go through every single entity in your whole map with the entity editor open and check every
key and value and make sure its true. if you want i can have alook at it for you to save you time.
