WTF..?

kk,i got cod4 on pc today,i installed it after that i went onto mutiplayer and clicked join server and OMGG the lagg was soo bad, and now when i try and join a server it says "you need low ping for this server", HELP??

please please, tell me what's wrong i just wana play cod4 lag-free ,

checked your connection? Are you the only one who uses the internet maybe others downloading or uploading sth?
maybe set your "seta maxpackets 100" and if that doesnt work go to 90 80 70 and look what's best for you

or maybe your computer isnt good enough to play with the graphics you should try going to the call of duty 4 main menu click options then click graphic settings and change them to your liking the more things you turn off the faster itll run but more ugly it will look lol

First I would check your connection. You can see how good (in general) your connection quality is by going to this website: http://www.speedtest.net/ If it's crappy and you use a wireless connection, try using an ethernet cable. If it's crappy and you don't use a wireless connection, contact your internet service provider to upgrade your internet speed. Also, I just got a new router because there are several people who use the same network that I do and it improved my connection quality drastically, so if there are other people in your house/network/etc. you might want to get a new router.

If all of that's fine, try playing with the graphic settings as lilmatsi suggested. Make sure your PC meets (at least) the minimal requirements for CoD4.

If it doesn't work after that... well your screwed
(unless you have programs running in the background that are using a lot of memory or CPU power, in which case just close those programs when your playing)

oh yeah thanks for reminding me about that yeah jumpbeginner exit out of any other windows you have open if you have windows xp or windows vista open up task manager and delete any processes u dont need itll increase your speed a lot but i only do that cause my computers the worst...btw i have a Emachines (gateway) pc my graphics card i use is ati radeon xpress 200

Dont really get what you mean, but you cant scann virus while playing cod4...

for the graphic settings on CoD4 shall i put the "yes's" to "no"??
and the "medium" And "high's" to "low"??

try with everythign lowest first, then after, try after doing " Default system settings "

Using the in game server browser, sort the servers by "ping" by clicking "ping", lower is better.
