Loudest part of PC
Hi, one thing that ive just thought about is the nosie my pc generates. My dads is much quieter. There is one part thats quite loud and the rest is just slightly hissing fans etc. I think its my power supply that is loud - how can i find out which part it is?
Thanks
Thanks

Disconnect random stuff and see if you can figure it out. Obviously you can't do it with everything, but take out pieces one at a time. Video card, fans, RAM, CPU fan, all removable. If it isn't any of those things then chances are it is your power supply.

My graphics card is so fucking loud, I mean, I disconnected the fan one time, and I couldn't hear anything.

Wait, so you're going to disconnect everything the PSU is leading to?, if I'm reading it right.... No, the PC won't work without powerjimbojetuk wrote:Putting my ear closer is obvious but my PSU is so close to some fans its just too difficult to check.

Re: Loudest part of PC
rofl, the PSU
I was thinking there might be a break in the cable where it only works when its connected or something.
Thing is I would love to be able to shut it up but Ive never really thought about trying. its ike a vacuum on half power....

Disconnect all your fans, then re connect one by one, clean the loud one, or all of them.

On a more serious note, my graphics card has been very noisy for about a year now. I did think it was the processor cooler, so replaced it, but then realised it was the gfx card (didn't matter too much, needed replacing as it was old and poor and the new one was dirt cheap).
I'm getting a gtx 260 soon anyway, so no more sound problems (potentially!).

Re: Loudest part of PC
Havent had the will to be bothered to rip it apart to try fix it, i just cant be bothered right now. will do it sometime next week while im off though.
Its deffo not my graphics card, thats so old it doesnt produce hardly any heat so all it needs is a sink, no fan.
