fps stuff - either chance or someone somehow found it out mathematically or found something in the source code. No one knows who exactly.

imo - because people want to clarify they aren't being an ass. when you say imo it shows that you're being somewhat humble and that you recognize what you are saying is merely an opinion, not what you view as a fact.

Saying "imo" is largerly pointless.. it obviously is someone's opinion because they're saying it.

I remember Wocoom was told by a game developer type person that you could probably use 49 (or something) to jump heigher and that's how that number came about.

I don't think it's so pointless, because people can easily misunderstand you if you say "Dogs are better than cats." They may think it's based on a fact, and will start an argument or bla bla bla. My example wasn't so good but you should get my point.

Well not really. For something to be a fact based statement rather than opinion it must include some evidence also, otherwise it is not a fact at all. You can't "report facts" as you say without evidence.

"The hadron collider is good". = Opinion.
"The hadron collider if successfull will help develop our scientific understanding of the world, which is good". = Fact and Opinion.
"The hadron collider if successfull will help develop our scientific understanding of the world." Fact.

And not once was "IMO" used.

What are you talking about ;/ You can't blur the line between opinion or fact... The first statement has to be opinion, the third has to be fact.

No that statement is fact because it is clarified by "if successful". Without that then it is opinion; so it cannot be subjected to "imo".
