my computer came with vista, but it was so horrible that i had to UPGRADE to XP. I couldn't play any games above 20 fps on half-decent settings, and CoD4 wouldn't play at all. When i went to XP most of those games jumped to 40-60 fps with the same settings and CoD4 finally worked. I don't think i'll ever get vista again after that experience.

I've avoided Vista because I don't know how it will run on my machine (P4 3), and I've heard loads of bad gaming experiences.

I've been using Vista for 1 year now and I can say it's the best windows by far. The games run better than on XP (XP CoD 4: 150 fps / Vista CoD 4: 333 fps). If you don't want to have problems with Vista don't use Daemon Tools - open your .iso files with Win Rar. That's the only tip that comes in my mind. If I remember any others I'll post here.

if games runs better on vista as on xp you have done shit before with the xp configuration !

in hundreds of tests is it evidenced that vista is min 10% slower as xp.

I dont have many games for my computer, though. For browsing, watching videos, playing small browser games, MSN, its perfect, however it would be nice to be able to play a few 'real' games every now and then.

VISTA Sucks.. im always on XP, i now did a custom install of XP, and installed Windows Blind to make it look nicer, but some themes wont install, well not all. , My Daughter has Vista and it eats up memory like heck. and it has 2-gig memory.
If i was ever to get another NEW PC a Pre-built one and it had Vista, i format the drive, coz VISTA gives me a headache.lol

Vista is a very good OS, but for gaming I wouldn't recomment it at all. If you don't have a high-end PC it will slow your PC down in many ways, and the main reason that I don't get Vista is because it's hard to get programs to work correctly on it. And also the whole security thingy on it that several times asks "Are you sure? Yes/No" whatever you do. You can turn that off though so that's NP.

Don't use Vista if you play a lot of games. Sooner or later it will show.

The only thing is, everyone is always boosting for performance, but, why not for once enjoy some luxury?

Dont get me wrong, XP is a clean, decent OS, but I think vista is more modern and , basically, updated.

I knopw I will get a performance hit, and if this was primarily a gaming only pc, i would go for performance, but i want this to cater to my needs, maybe with a spoonful or two of gaming.
