I would think again about it being true or not.

It is debatable whether Maarten itself has realized this when he chose to graduate from this life.
He graduated!

here's the full translation of the article

EDIT: the source said this tho (found an old page in dutch and i used the google translator to make it english)

"Boy (14) hung because of a computer game

A 14-year-old boy from Bunnik has hung himself after he felt betrayed when he played a computer game. His school in Utrecht has taken leave of him, as revealed in a message on the Internet.

The drop which he showed that suicide was about a friend account for the popular computer game Runescape had hacked. The boy placed before he went on to his act, an English farewell message on his website. It told him, inter alia, that he at school and had many problems at home. He said little support and get to be disappointed.

His rector said in her farewell speech to the students that it is good to remember that there are always people who want to support you in difficult times and gloomy. "It is difficult to get used to the idea that he was no longer in the classroom, is no longer running through the corridor, and is no more going to school. It is debatable whether Maarten himself has realized this when he chose to graduate from this life. "

This is pretty sad actually. The Telegraaf is the largest newspaper in Holland.

But then again, it is Runescape.

Granted, I'd get pissed off when my WoW account gets hacked too and all my stuff gets removed, my gold, all my items destroyed etc. Would probably don't wanna play for a while if the stuff can't be restored. But I wouldn't think of suiciding. Then again, I don't know how his life is. Truth is, it is sad, and a bit pathetic/funny.

The sad fact is, the guy who commit suicide never said anything about RS in post accept saying thanks to the guys he played with. Only once a person posted he had been scammed did people assume this was a death because of RS. I guarantee you all, this had NOTHING to do with the game, but more to do with his life.

RS, as the saying goes "the straw that broke the camels back".

I seriously feel sorry for the family, the amount of questions which will forever remain unanswered will be with them for a long time, and I speak from experience. Dealing with it is something no family should need to do, but then saying that, as we do not know what went on in his background, the family could well be a major part of it.

True, but that would be a VERY amazing coincidence that He got scammed out of his RS account and committed suicide right after it. It had at least SOME impact on his decision, although we don't know what else could have caused it.
