Still need ideas for moneyspending

Post by Coontang » November 16th, 2008, 3:54 pm

OK, im so picky with my money and I STILL dont know what im getting. originally a HDTV, then a Gaming PC, then between a PC or a laptop. I like the idea of being able to just lay in bed on my laptop instead of having to be sat at my computer. However, when I find a good laptop, I think 'yeah this is cool' but then I remember how it would be if i put the same money into a pc. I would have tons more power, at the expense of mobility.

As some people said, an idea would be to build a PC from scratch. I did disapprove on it, and still do really, I dont feel it would go well, im sure i would miss a thing or two out and end up with a Fuxxed machine...

If i buy a PC, and have the cash to put my favoured parts in, I think it would go much better.

The first option I see is this nice thing:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149059

whack another 2GB of ram into there, and a HD4850/70 ?

A second option is this:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143132

The system there seems a bit more equipped, same with the first, bung a 2GB RAM and a 4850/70 and there we go.

Or, this could be the daddy:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145783/sh ... ct_reviews

New power supply, 4850 in and bang we've got an amazing gaming PC for about £550. People say this holds out on cod 4 at 1680x1050, full graphics. Sounds good to me?

Any comments? I prefer option 3.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 883229050R

roughly £556.

That would be my choice :p.

but between all of the options that you layed out, I'd probably go for the 2nd option, but considering what your doing to all of them, it pretty much evens out all of the options :s.

FxxK ME! That looks like the new choice. Huge power supply, huge graphics card, HUGE processor all in one huge package. This looks very very nice, I take it the GFX is better than the 4850? Nice find infinite, I may well look further into this...

How does this get shipped into the UK

At that price it is still not considered. I play with my keyboard UNDER a desk (sliding keyboard tray), there would be no point to any display off the screen (unless I could detach it and move it >.<).

So, £55 is still not worth the novelty. :P

Don't be ridiculous. No one would have sex with him, not even for $500.

I have spent my money...after lots of decision making I decided to buy a 37" tv for my bedroom lol....

I'd like to thank KS for his help. Although it didn't make my decision about what to buy, I now know the 'Dos' and 'Donts' of PC's so it may come in handy later :) I thought that with the money I was thinking of paying I just couldn't get high enough system to game with. Too many things to think about, and it results in what I feel is an incomplete system (I always want something upgrading, think comprimising the graphics card to be able to afford a decent mobo.)

Thanks!

Anyway, back to the TV! its a 37LG3000, 720p high definition, 15,000:1 contrast (the blacks look actual black [not black as in people  ])

Got some fucking great pictures of it.

I was extremely lucky really. Went into comet on monday, looked at it for £400 they say none in stock but can order for one on 2nd Dec. Went into Currys, again for £400, 2 in stock but no money on me at the moment. Went home came back later, all gone, but 1 left in the currys about 20Miles from us. Ordered that, went and collceted for £400, result! TV has been extremely good since. Went into currys the next day, same tv , £550! also £550 at comet! I musta just nipped at the last second. This TV will sell amazingly at £550...its perfect. If anyone is after a fantastic televsion, get this (I think at dixons online its still £400, but £20 delivery). What can I say, im amazed. Now ive got the best TV in the house!
