Looking for a pc

Post by JDogg » June 14th, 2008, 11:24 am

Hey guys. I'm sure all of you are more experienced than me when it comes to this stuff, so I was wondering if this setup is worth the money.

Any recommendations on a prebuilt pc would be good too (cbf building it, unless I'm saving a real lot of money)

I, myself, would never get one on Ebay. TBH I can't even be sure if it's worth the price because they don't give any specific info on RAM or Hard Drive (brand) and there is no info on the power supply provided. It is definitely a great deal, but I'm not sure it is worth it. Can you give me your budget and current computer specs?

On the subject of video cards, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814261012

$149.99 (US) 8800gt, I know the shipping would be expensive, but that is still an amazing price. It also has 1gb RAM which is very rare for an 8800gt. The only issue I see besides the shipping is a few bad reviews concerning failing RAM on the card.

I'd go for an 8800gt too.. very good cards. and dont cost much. Not the 1gb version, that hardly adds anything (well, cost perhaps).

My budget is under 1000 (AU) dollars. My current computer is a crappy old mac :P. I don't need a moniter/keyboard mouse or hard drives. That card looks pretty cheap and I might buy it.

I would help you, but I just spent all of yesterday rebuilding a computer in a new case with a new power supply just to get it to not work. All the errors were inconsistent and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so overall I'm kinda pissed at computer hardware right now. :P

Haha, that's one thing I don't look forward to after getting a pc.

the 512mb version of the 8800 GT out performs the 8800 GT 1gb model,

buy the 512 version, or if its within your budget get one of the new HD 4870's from ATI, if there not in your budget buy a HD 4850 from ATI, amazing budget cards, also buy a q6600 for your CPU and 2gb OCZ/crucial RAM
