The frightning thing here (imo) is how easy it is to fix / make this problem worse.
Look at the distance the phones are from the popcorn, then remember the basic physics:
That the intensity of the waves are one quarter the strength for every time you double the distance (inverse square law) so if the phones were twice as close, they would have FOUR TIMES the cooking power.

It cant be true (the popcorn thing) or people would put them closer...?

Do you agree that the power from the phone (the energy / wave) is spread out in a sphere from the phone? So it goes out in all directions? (if you don't, think about a sound wave, how is it when somebody speaks you can hear them from below, behind, infront, the side of e.t.c?)

P = power from the source (will be fixed, as the phones power will be the same)
R = radius of the sphere (from centre (source) to the outside))
I = Intensity

Try entering values into the above, and then doubling the radius and check your value for I.

I wouldn't think they bothered to be so mathematical/physical about it.

What about superposition? If you got all the waves to peak at the same time then it'd have an even stronger effect, so if the wavelength is more than, say, 5cm, you'd want to have them slightly further out so that they create a greater overall peak.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's fake Look at them when they 'explode', particularly the last one. It just doesn't look right.
