LAPTOP PROBLEM.. Wont Start,Advice please
Hay ok got major problem here.
Friend had a (NEW) BOXED) Acer Laptop given to her from her employer, and due to she staying here a few days she brought the laptop around to use on the internet.
The other day i was transfering tunes for here from 1 ipod to another using sync processs on Itunes software, i did notice the laptop filling a little warm, i told her laptop getting hot, but she insisted me to carrie on doing her tunes. All went ok, Next day my daughter was using the laptop due to the Kids PC was not ready to be put into there room, i hear wife screaming and shouting at kids, i get woken up to find out that the kids have busted the laptop. whats ment to of happened was my olded daughter was on MSN messenger, the boy came in and knocked the laptop on the side, what side i dont know (Wasnt Droped in anyway just knocked), Laptop suddenly shuts down, wont start anymore.
I checked forum and found a site saying remove battery, hold down Powerbutton for 20-seconds, replae Battery, should work,, Tried it and NOPE nothink changed, still dont work... I removed battery and tryed it with just PSU, still nothink.
Anyone got Any idears on whats happened.?? is there a fix.? Our friends not to happy right now, but i blame her for letting my kiids keep using her stuff, she always lets the kids play with her Ipod, mobile, laptop ect ect. She has thrown the box away, has no recipt as it was a gift from her employer. IVe told her to contact employer and ask if she still has the recipt, and ask how long she had it befor she gave to our friend as a xmas gift..
I think her employer got it 2 weeks befor Xmas (not 100% sure tho) if 28 day is covered will PC World replace Laptop without issues, or will they say they need to send back for repairs.? i understand if Laptop or PCs are faulty or gone down befor 28 days they have to replace it, if covered by receipt.. If no receipt is not avalible what happens then.??
sorry long message, im like that...lol

no idear on the hibernation standby, even if it was, when removing the battery and holding down the Power button for 20-seconds, wont that take it out of any hibernation status.? Plus wouldnt the laptop still power up even if in hybernation.?KillerSam wrote:Well every product comes with a 12month guarantee as standard - regardless of any '28 days' that the shop says. So no matter what it has a 1 year guarantee.
With proof of purchase you should have no difficulty in getting it fixed / replaced (providing you didn't throw it out of the window e.t.c).
It is fair to assume that a laptop will take occasional knocks / bangs / taps - and they should be made to take that (not drops however lol).
I would very much doubt that the laptop needs to be returned.
Are you sure it is not in some form of hibernate / standby?
Tried the button, nothink near screen just on sides, checked them they all seem ok, i know the Battery was charged, so even without PSU the battery should turn on the Laptop, but nope notink, cant even see any lights or hear fan running.KillerSam wrote:I have had my laptop do something similar to what you described (after I closed the lid on it).
There is usually a tiny 'button' near the hinge that is pressed when you close the lid that causes it to power down / standby e.t.c, in my case this button had got its self stuck, causing the laptop to never turn on (until I freed it).
If I was you - I would be checking battery connections, power e.t.c - if it is completely dead that is.
Will take it to PCworld tomorrow with friend see what they say, as i have to go that way to take the PC monitor to currys for an exchange, i dont want a monitor thats dead pixles on.

No it's because of "annoying to read (bad sentence structure)". If you CBA'd reading his posts, then there is no reason to reply or comment to the topicsteveuk wrote:mybe coz they to long and he cant be bothered to read them.???..
