Well my experience is that AMD is better for gaming. I have a amd x2 3600+ myself They even sell a x2 6400+ right now. and even quad core. Also I have a motherboard of geforce so that has even more compatiblety :)

AMD better for gaming.. they were idd.. till the core 2 duo's arrived and AMD plummed down.. AMD now has to price their high end CPU's against Intels midrange, just to keep up even a little bit. The E6850 is faster then any AMD out there today. Allthough I dont know how the phenom's are gonna perform, but im pretty sure that they will also lose the the newest Intel quadcores.

I've got an E6850 and it rocks. Brought me up from 40fps on mp_kharkov on cod:uo to about 999 constant. (my old processor was a P4 3Ghz that had been burned because I didn't cool it right so it didn't run properly)

2x a 3850 is 1 8800 ultra
4x a 3850 is 3 x a ultra i tink :D

cous crossfire is like 80% profit when u put an extra card in and SLI is like 35 %

so for the price of 1 ultra u better buy 4x 3850 :D

here some benchmarks:
