CSG you mean?

They are pointless.
Hollow... There is never a reason to hollow an object.
Merge... Instead of merging, just delete one and change the second brush.
Subtract... Learn to use the clipper.

Never used them. Well.. when i first started mapping.

They cause problems :)

i always use hollow for skybox :D
but then fix the edges :wink:

I don't even map and I know hollowing for a sky box is a sin lol..

cause it can create tiny messed up invisible brushes all over the map that can cause leaks or holes in brushes as well as leaks in general.
