Possible New Server

Post by Lethal323 » August 5th, 2007, 4:46 am

I may be donating 1 or 2 new servers to cod jumper. If I Do, I will be putting my CoD Jump Mod On it, But will still have CoD Jumper Name on it.

Also I know a ton of stuff about servers. I have many many friends that work for server companies someof them working for Speedy Game Servers and 1 Making His Own (who I work for). So I know a Bunch. I was wondering if I could be a server matience guy? of course I will work for free.

All servers are run by their owners, if a server is sponsored to CoDJumper by a server provider, then the CJ members run them, we have no (and I imagine we don't plan to have a) single person in charge of servers.

We don't pay because we shouldn't have to. Peds PAYS for this site, and I and the other CJ members have more important things to spend money on than wasting it on a server for ZERO profit. Companies who DONATE servers to us get free advertisement and in return we get a server. There is no contract or clause, the server donation lasts as long as the owned wishes, whether this be 5 minutes or 5 months.

You are entitled to your opinion on the servers, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one mans meat is another mans poison, and all the other relative phrases, for you the server may suck, for others, the servers are a haven of fun.

Of course they'd "suck" from your point of view, you'll have a ping of about 150 on most of them

I can't take all the credit ;) I used to pay for hosting the site (it was run off PedsDesign.com, which I still pay for hosting, but don't use for CJ anymore), but now Destiny does (£90 for 2 years) and I pay for the domain name ($8.88 per year).

If you don't like the servers then don't play on them. We don't have the money to fork out on paying for servers - Destiny and I have already put enough money into this site as it is, plus if we can get some provided for free then why should we pay? The server providers benefit from increased hits from our site and their name in the hostname, the donators get their name and IP on the site and have the CJ Team help run their servers - everyone wins.

For CoD2, we have 3 servers. One is provided by LowPings.net (they're sponsoring us), one is provided by ScattyHosting.com (who have also recently sponsored us) and one is owned by 'Dan', who kindly donated it to us. Our only CoD1 server, donated by 9mm, is hosted in the US.

If you would like to donate server/s, then by all means do. Speak to me about it.

It would be great if you donated a server, because it would mean that we would have a US server, so you would also get quite a few people on your server (the majority of visitors to CJ are american).
