Portal Technology
Used in the game Prey (if memory serves me correctly), and I believe is coming to Chapter 2 of the new half lifes...
And all I can say is... WOW

thats not preys fault, Prey just wanted portals... Half Life, like to always impress, and portal alone are not impressive... but guns that make portals on flat surfaces... that is.red_gee wrote:I've played Prey, the portals are okay, but too static, I like this idea, You portal where you want to portal
Adds more thinking to it
Whoever is doing all them portal at the end (flying about) is fucking skillful

I guess the reason I'm not impressed with Prey (Especially after seeing this) is that Prey just feels like a knock off when you play it
It seems to be running the doom 3 engine and the game play felt like half life to me
The portals were cool, but this is way cooler
But it's not their fault no, the thing is no matter what you do, somebody will probably top it, and with valve on the case, it has to be amazing

Yep, im not impressed with Prey either (after demo) as the game seemed to be like a "test". As in all they were doing was testing their engine.
things like moving room (which change the direction of gravity) and the portals (first game to have such impressive portals), also their "sticky" walls thing, where the wall have a gravity of their own (you can turn them on and off), "spirit" mode, where you use your spirit to walk through obstacles.
In all the technology is there, but the gameplay isn't![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Agreed, but on an additional note, the sticky walls aren't new either
I first saw them in Ratchet and Clank, and they actually felt as though they added to the gameplay
These stickey walls were just new floors to walk on
I'm hyped about episode 2 though
And they have confirmed that everything will be released on xbox 360, I think including episode 2, I just love playing games on my big screen![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

hmmm, maybe its possible in cod2, not the bit where u can see throught the portal but the teleportaion part
hmmm how bout..
u shoot, and make a new set of images for the wall marks..
So then we look at it like, we shoot, and the wallmark then becomes the origin of the trigger, just as a static trigger works for teleporters.. then u shoot somewhere else and that sets the orogin of the exit point..?
u simply set the origins of the enitity by shooting at a surface..
okokok i said simply, odviously not, but im sure that woyld be one way of doing it
hmmm, maybe work it around the teleporter script along with the save script..
Meh
