New Server Mod!

Post by Drofder2004 » February 3rd, 2006, 8:45 pm

Ready for testing. I have only tested a small amount due to only having myself to test it... there is very likely to be some bugs in there, more than likely the mod wont work first time, so just report back any problems.

If the server is crashing, please set your ser to "developer 1" and record the error it gives you.

the mod Includes:-
-Jump Mod by Leveller (Edited slightly to remove sponsor info)
-Anti-Block Mod by Me
-Anti-Kill Mod by Me
-CJ Advertisement Mod.

To turn on Levellers Jump Mod just use the same command as normal.
set scr_saveposition 1

To turn on the Anti-Block Mod use the following command
set scr_antiblocktime # (change # to a time in seconds, recommended 10)

To turn on the Anti-Kill Mod use the following command
set scr_antikill 1

-------------
Anti-Block Mod.
This is how it works.
You start off invulnerable to all damage except your own.
If the mod detects you are not moving or barely moving then a counter starts, once the counter reaches the time (scr_antiblocktime) then you become vulnerable to ALL damage, so if you are being blocked by someone, give it a few seconds, and just shoot them [you will not recieve any score for killing, so do not be worried that killing will get you kicked] ;)
If you are vulnerable because of blocking then the only way of becoming invulnerable again is moving.

The only drawback I can think of (without a proper test) is waiting to jump. If you are waiting to jump, make sure you do not exceed the counter. if you have an idea of how to solve that problem, say so.
-------------
Anti-Kill Mod
Simple. Only damage that you cause yourself can kill you. All other damage is ignored (unless you are blocking). Also, falling damage is off, unless it becomes a problem, it will stay off.
-------------
CoDJumper Advertisement
Lots of it :P
The Objectives have been changed to a CJ ad.
The gametype is called "codjumper" and the loading gametype comes up as "www.CoDJumper.com".
There is also a logo in the bottom right for CoDjumper (provided by Levellers jump mod).

Installation
Create a new folder called "codjumper" in the base directory
(Default: C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of duty 2/)

Put the pk3 in that folder.

Run the server using a command line that includes
+fs_game codjumper

That will load the codjumper folder and the pk3.

The gametype is no longer dm, it is now...
/g_gametype codjumper

Any questions/comments/advice/problems/bugs/etc post!

Excellent m8 - is there anything you can't do? ;)

Will add it to the site when I get back from the Newcastle vs Portsmouth match I'm setting off for any minute now :)

On a totally unrelated subject, what a fucking amazing game the Newcastle vs Portsmouth game was. We won 2-0, Shearer got his 201st goal for Newcastle (setting a new club record) and i got the end of it recorded :D

I tested the mod with grom and wocoom, I think they already pointed out a few minor problems, and its already been updated? still gotta try the updated version but its looking good so far.

Glad u fixed the save in mid air thing, as its annoying when ppl who haven't yet learnt how to strafe very well, decide to use it for half the damn map, and while the rest of us are jumping properly, they are just getting in the way and should learn to prgress the map with skill...

If u could add that to the cod save mod that would be cool too.

if it ever crashes make sure you grab the error from console.

As for your suggestions...

*Remove the time - Done
*People should see if people becomes vulnerable, is it possible to fix? - Needs Testing
*Fix the savemod bug (jump-save-load-jump-save) - Done (I think).

Time is gone.

I cannot test thesecond one as what I have done is that if you lose your invulnerability your head icon should change a death symbol. It should also dissapear when you get vulnerability back. (Please test).

Savemod Bug. I wasn't 100% sure what this was, but I remember being shown a bug where you could save in mid-air and then somehow keep getting hire by saving and reloading? Well, anyway. Now it is impossible to save unless your feet are on the ground

I have tested this with very thin objects and also invisible walls, both allow you to save fine, but if you jump and save, you will get a message instead

But I ran into some problems when I tried it on my server. I had to put the .iwi file in the /main director to get it to work, and not in the /codjumper folder as you said in your first post. And, I had to put in the /developer 1 command to get it to work completely

Are you running a proper server? or just a listen/lan server?
Exact instructions on installation.

Create a new folder. (C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\codjumper\)
Put the pk3 in this folder.
Now if you are running a dedicated server you need to add this to your command line

Code:
+fs_game codjumper

You command line might look something like this...

Code:
"C:\...\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set fs_game codjumper +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip <ip> +set net_port <port> +exec server.cfg

Now all you need to do is create a normal DM config in your MAIN folder (called server.cfg)
in your server config add these lines

Code:
set scr_saveposition 1
set scr_antiblocktime 15
set scr_antikill 1

also make sure you change these...

Code:
set g_gametype "codjumper"
set sv_MapRotation "gametype codjumper map mp_breakout"

Any other problems?

Could you please re-upload grom (use your admin powers to edit my link if you do)

BTW, could all talk be directed into this thread...

Just copied your post into this topic instead :)

Wow, thats very nice work Drofder!
The savemod bug I talked about is the one you have fixed now
Hmm, I guess maybe my problem was that I got a bad server config or something (I used an old PAM config), but could you maybe send me a proper one (over PM or something)?
And I am talking about a proper dedicated server, not hosted on my own machine.

I will try it out more tomorrow, and see if I can get it to work properly
