Need help with RAM problem!?!

Post by Devil » January 10th, 2006, 10:58 pm

I had 512 RAM in my computer, and I could get a 125 fps on cod2.

Then I bought 2 gig of RAM so that i had 2.5 gig of RAM in my comp, then my fps went down to 60 -80.

I cant get my fps to 125 and i have 2.5 gig of RAM y?? Also i tried the /com_maxfps 125 and the /com_hunkmegs 512 and i cant get my fps up from around 60-80.

I have tried taking my 2 gig of RAM out so that i have got my origonal 512 RAM and my fps is still stuck at around 60 -80 and wont go any higher. :?

The weird thing is that if i look at the sky i can get my fps up to 125 and i can get it up to 230 if i have my 2gig RAM. But when im looking around normaly its just stuck!!! please can any one help me?? :(

And sorry i should have posted this on the support fourm. diddnt see there was one sorry.

it might have something to do with your power supply, because having too much ram can make the power supply get really hot as the fans inside it have to spin faster to make your computer remain around the same temperature. or, if you don't feel your computer is overheating, your power supply might not be cooling it down enough, or something like that. how many watts is your psu?

What kind of graphics card do you have also? It could be due to your graphics card having to run the more memory to... some of the graphics cards comntrol memory units.. just wondering if that might be a factor... :?

also after you said about the graphics card i cheaked it over and i found that my graphics card was out of its slot lol so it could have been running on vertual memory. whoops! But any way i got my fps back up to 125! :D
