Are your crosshairs missing?

there are a few things you can do to try and get your crosshairs:

1.first of all make sure you arent on hardcore. in console type "/map mp_bog" (which map doesnt matter) this will load game with default settings not in hardcore so if your crosshaird re-appear its because youre playing in hardcore.

2.open console and type "/cg_drawcrosshair 1" if youre crosshair re-appears then problem solved!

3.if this still doesnt work then close cod4(important) go to youre cod4 folder then player>profiles>your profile. right click on the mp_config file and open with notepad. in one of the dropdown menu's you'll find the 'search' option. type in "seta ui_drawCrosshair" and after that there should be a "0". change the 0 to a 1. save the file and then open cod4 and type "/map mp_bog" to test.

NOTE: if your crosshairs AND ammo count are missing it may be due to a corrupt install. so backup your player profile, uninstall the game, delete the cod4 folder left behind and re-install.

You can just type 3. in console. You don't have to open your config file for that.

No, that doesnt allways work. i had this problem and that was the first thing i did. For some reason the game doesnt save it so you have to do it in config.

Actually it's not. The game saves the config_mp based on the last mod you used, so your default cfg(the one in main/players) might not get overwritten.

I assumed that as long as your .cfg wasn't read only, it would always update it.

This is true, but each mod has its own player config, therefore you would be required to do it per mod.

all i know is, i tried doing it in console -it didnt work. i tried it in config-it did.
