Recording/Video Help?

Post by F |Madness| U » October 28th, 2010, 10:16 am

Basically I'm new to recording CoD4, or anything for that matter, and I've been reading a few guides on how to do it, I have all of the required programs (I think), but I'm still uncertain un a few things.

Firstly which is the best avidemo to use? One guide says 30, one says to use 60 then speed it up in Vegas (effectively making it 30?). SO I really have no idea which I should use.

Secondly most guides say to record in 1280x720, because thats the HD on youtube or something right? But anyway If I put my CoD4 into that resolution, the whole screen doesn't fit on (a small bit is cut off each side, I'm guessing because I have an old PC screen which is pretty much a square). Any ideas on what I should do to get around this, record in another resolution or what?

Thanks for help.

The most common avidemo's are 120 and 200.

About the resolution it shouldn't matter how you see it on your screen. It'll record in 1280x720 anyway.

Okay thanks I'll guess just try a few different avidemo's and see which is best?

Surely if record in 1280x1024 (normal settings where everything fits on screen fine for me) and post on youtube, there will be some black space either side of the actual video, because it won't be as wide as the standard youtube setting (1280x720)?

Some people record in 1280x1024 and crop it to 1280x720. Apparently the quality you'll get is better. I have never done that tough.

But if you just record in 1280x1024 you'll have black bars indeed.
