What Books are you reading?

Post by ultralala » July 29th, 2010, 2:11 pm

Well i know. Its funny but i guess im not the onl one who read books^^ Will see

My Favorite is:

Fermat's last theorem
Written by Simon Singh

a²+b2=C³ but it doenst work for a³+b³=c³ and so on.

Fermat said he had a beautiful proof for that
300 yrs later a single man proofed it..not that easy but he did
and earned 1 Mio$ coz it was one of the oldest riddles in math

Heres a Vid from Andrew cryin about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPRnUPH8sME

It is pretty interesting though it's Tom Clancy he likes weapons and has a black and white view and is veeeeeeeeery patroistic. I would prefer books from John Le Carre but I've already read all :P

I am reading a lot literature too. Could recommend you "Arno Schmidt - Schwarze Spiegel" - It's about the the possibilites you have left when you are the last person on eart (at least you think so)

Cause I have a small case of ADD, I can't sit down to read a book. To me it's boring and a waste of time (but what isn't)
I read strategy guides though :D

^ This.

I am currently being forced to read On The Beach by Nevil Shute for Summer reading (my high school requires it for rising Seniors). I'm 15 pages into it and I feel that I wasted the 7 minutes that I spent on reading those pages.

You get a lot of knowledge out of books tbh. Otherwise you are just fags^^^

The golden compass trilogy is really old I read it when i was a child. It's from Phillip Pullman I think

I get the same amount of information, if not more, from the internet as I would from any amount of books. The only difference is that I can search the internet from my home, whereas if I wanted to see a book, I would have to go out to a library and read it there if I didn't want to pay for the book. I save money and time by not reading books. As for the arguments suggesting that there are less reputable sources on the internet, just take a look at the Bible.

Do you watch TV? And when you do how many hours in the week?

I haven't watched TV for the last 2, 3 year because it is complete bullshit. Though I find reading books pretty entertaining. Don't forget that and you can easily broaden your vocabulary.

And in an academic environment reading papers, books or other publications and writing them is mandatory to gain knowledge about complex coherences. But maybe you will get this experience when you get older.
