#4 Downtime

Recently my machine (which is colocated) was taken out of the datacenter without my permission, and moved into another, and I was assigned new IP addresses. As I was not informed of this, I did not change the interface file on the server, making the server impossible to go online. I have demanded the server be sent back to me, and next week it should be online again with new IP addresses. I will keep you informed, however here is the post I placed on crossfire.nu :

Well, with endless spam I thought it was time to write something about the issue with services running on my server, which include my BNCs and CubeCast.eu along with the UK shoutcasting servers.

Basically the early hours of Saturday I noticed server server was unresoncive, I messaged a host about the issue, and my server was actually being moved to another datacenter without the host informing me, so my server was not prepared for IP changes etc. I have requested the server be shipped back to me, and hopefully it should be back online with new IP addresses by Wednesday.

One other thing is that I have been unable to contact the host about retrieving my server since the incident, so I am unsure where it is, or what the host's intentions are.

Well I have found out more information why they may not of wanted to inform me, which I will explain when I have the issue resolved.

IP change doesn't really matter. Just update us when it's changed!

Of course, not a big problem for a couple of gameservers, but other projects on that machine will take a long time to update

Ah ok, my xfire is msh100

Also I received my server today in post, and it will be put in the datacenter tomorrow afternoon and I will spend the evening rearranging new IP addresses.
