ok so when i press/record demoname it does start recording and then i stiop it and it does make a demo in a folder but when i try to play it in cod it says it is not found help!!

I don't have any experience with MAC. But have you ever done it on a non-MAC system while it worked? Perhaps it's just the same. Just a thought.

There are 2 places where demo's are stored (for 1.0 anyway- guessing same on 1.7). They are in CoD4>Main>Demos or CoD4>Players>Demos. Open up those folders and see which folder they are in, whichever you find they are in, transfer them to the folder you didn't find them in.
Then open up CoD4 type /demo "name"
I find that whenever I record a demo, I always have to move it to the other folder to play it.

Notice that if you record in a mod you have to launch the mod and than play the demo.
