A letter to 3 upstanding Gamemagazines.

Post by <LT>YosemiteSam[NL] » July 7th, 2005, 2:07 pm

I sent 3 (Dutch) magazines, PC-Zone, PowerUnlimited and PC-Gameplay, the following article about jumping.

Jump or Shoot

“How do you get there ?”, “Cheater” are a few remarks we often hear. But after an explanation and a demonstration these remarks turn into “Show us more”, “Do you know more spots where you can get ?”.

With “we” I mean players who check every inch of a map to get to places where no one has been before or which people thought you couldn’t get. These so called “Jumpers” are a rare breed, where the most players are trying to get the most frags to them that’s not there priority, jumping is.

It all started (for me) with MoHAA where it was even possible to jump on each others back to reach new heights. Almost immediately when CoD entered the scene the search for jumps which would give you virtual immortality was on, like getting on top of the church and bridge in the map Arnhem. After many hours of explaining and watching demo’s I came in contact with CoDJumper.com. As where I thought that no map had any secrets for me anymore, I found out that I couldn’t be more wrong. Watching all CJ-Team demo’s, the most divergent and sometimes inimitably difficult Panzerfaust, grenade and strafe-jumps passed me by.

We are now a half year further and I almost don’t have any problems anymore with the difficult and sometimes even “impossible” jumps and share my obtained wisdom with the ever growing group of future jumpers. The reputation of several jumps and jumpers has strongly grown within the CoD community. This also is shown by the huge number of views in 1 year (almost 35000) on the forum thread about jumping on CoDfiles.com and the number of registered jump-forum members in half a year is almost up to an astonishing 500. We just can’t ignore it anymore, jumping is here to stay for a long time and a good way to experience everything a game has to offer, hence this (too long) epos.

Greetings,

<LT>YosemiteSam[NL]

Let's hope it gets printed in their next issue and that we will get alot of visitors and the recognition we deserve

Nice letter, well written :) Only criticism is that 'surch' is spelt 'search', but I'll let you off! ;)

I played MOHAA for over a year before CoD and used to do the jumping on top of other players trick (which came very handy on covering the sniper house on Bridge on objective ;)).

Changed it :) ,dono how that slipped in there.
but could you send some names of us it in the letter
If they check the e-mail and check the site they will see all the names. The purpose of this letter mostely was to get people excited about jumping and maybe a 2 page article in a gamemagazine (wishfull thinking though)

PU are smart indeed cause they are 'Gamekings' :P Watched there program tonight(again). I'm addicted to gamekings. Only don't buy a lot of game magazine's. I just go to the shop and read those magazine's :P Don't spend money on them. Only if something of COD is in it ><

BTW nice letter
