Mapper needed.

Post by d.phantasy » November 18th, 2009, 9:04 pm

Hello all,

Ive known about CoDJumper for a long time now, been playing frequently on servers since CoD1 and im sure there are many talented mappers out there, im in need of one of these.
I play for a team called "Team Dignitas" some of you may of heard of it if you've ever followed a CoD game Competitively, some may have not. Basically after the shambles that is MW2 i attended a LAN event last weekend in hope this game would be good, It wasn't. After playing in the final with hundres maybe thousands online spectating to watch the first ever MW2 Competitive final, it was the worst thing ive ever played, and everybody agree's. Therefore the Competitive side of CoD has decided to move back to Call of duty 4 and enlarge its lifespan as a competitive game. There has been alot of speculation on how to do this, the most probable and which seems to crop up in every single post has been that we need atleast one new map. This map will be (if good) used on LAN events around the world and in many different online leagues. I have basic plans for a map and will be asking many people on opinions of what should be involved etc. There is obviously alot more information that needs to be explained but instead of boring you all it would probably be much easier if i gave you the general info and spoke to an interested person personally :D

Thanks for reading, have a nice day. :)

Better remove you e-mail. Or make it like name*at*hotmail[dot]com
Because spambots love e-mail addresses.

Making a map better then backlot, crash or crossfire is a tough thing to do... o.O

But you can make your own maps. It's really not that hard to learn.
I've started learning about making maps 2 days ago, it was tough, but once I got the hang of it, things went very fast...
Yesterday I started working on a map, with almost zero knowledge, from 14:00 to 2:00 I worked on it.
But in that time, I learned about placing objects, light, reflection, textures, glass, ...

I suggest you try to make it yourself first... ;)
This is the tutorial I'm following;
http://wiki.modsrepository.com/index.ph ... mapping_mp
There is also Infinity Ward's wiki, but that has no images any more...

Sounds pretty good to have a new map. I won't think this will succeed tough.
It's very hard to make a new map that can qualify with the excisting maps that were made by proffessionals.

While graphically that is true, but I'm quite sure that people who have played the game for hundreds of hours can come up with a map that has better gameplay then someone who is under a time limit and pressure...
It may just take a long while... And it may not be a single project either... :P
