A Big Thank You

Post by Shifty » October 15th, 2009, 12:03 pm

I am an average skilled jumper and have at times found it hard to progress, I have been jumping for a long time now, seen many many videos/tutorials and while they have helped me massively, sometimes you have a barrier that you just cannot cross. Maybe a place in a custom map that no matter how long you try you just can't get past or on a stock map a bounce long strafe etc that you just cant make. Sometimes a little help in person from a really high skilled player is what you need to beat this barrier. Unfortunatly in the time I have been jumping I have never seen the highest skilled players really wanting to help out low skilled jumpers. (and I am not saying this as haveing a go at them) They make videos, help people on the forums etc. There will be skilled jumpers that help out low skilled players on servers but I only really jump server 1 so I am obviously missing what goes on on all the others. Anyway I need to say a huge huge thank you to _RUSH_ who has helped me so much in the last couple of weeks. I have gone from these impossible jumps to haveing them easy for me to do getting me to a level now that I feel I can make any jump. He is also a really nice friendly guy and one of the best jumpers I have seen. Thank you so much. :D

A lot of the best jumpers are either now inactive or are too busy to help people on servers all the time. I'm not saying that nobody helps others, that's not the case (I do it from time to time), but you can't do it all the time otherwise that leaves no time for you to actually do what you wanted to do in the first place.

I totally agree, however If i want to do something with no distractions I load up the mod and the map I want and then I will not be bothered by anything. When I go on the Codjumper servers I do so for the social aspect and therefore always try to help anyone that asks. (when I stated about never haveing had help from the highest skilled jumpers I was not refering to any of the Codjumper team as I already know enough about each of you from the years I have been visiting the website)

When someone asks me in a jump server how much FPS it requires I simple save my position, take a look and tell him.

And as therernone of the old people who used to jump (like evil kanne lincoln umm not dan hes shit :D) well u no who i talking bout, not the first (like ai carambe and atze) but the 1's in the middle :D. Since they stopped i stopped :D

Yeah, but sometimes it's easier to just join an empty / less populated jump server and vote to change the map. That way you avoid having to load CoD4 twice (once again when you choose the mod) and type in a load of commands. There's also the satisfaction of doing nice, difficult jumps in front of other people, which is where the social part comes in - I would much rather jump in a server with other people in than just on my own (unless of course I'm actively practicising a specific jump and don't want to be disturbed).

Tbh, if you ever jump on my server, and a bitch, which has access to rcon refuse to help you, I'll ban his lazy arse.

I'm personally always loving to help out new jumpers, it is always quite funny. ;)

(I'm simply too busy with my WoW addiction atm to jump!)

Well I am glad there are plenty of people out there helping others, but the topic wasnt really about me needing help and no one helping, more that _RUSH_ helping me with some more advanced stuff has taken me to a higher level that I otherwise would not have been able to make.
