They are the only thing that counts if you want upgrades.
If you play unranked you don't need upgrades because they are already unlocked in most cases which makes it fair for everyone and the one who plays the best will win without someone having a advantage with the weapons.

* Lean is back!

* The game will include a "barebones" game mode.
As the name implies, there won't be any perks or killstreaks, just old school gameplay.


* There will be support for the competitive community, which will include great tools.

this was all given in the May preview, although I did not notice the barebones concept, barebones + ranked server = potential for good game.

And this "support" has not been expanded so take from it what you will.

Atleast the news is good, but I still hope that the actual MP moves good. I just hope they copy the MW2 engine without modifying it. If they do that, I'll probably end up enjoying this.

Let's take a step back from our unhinged excitement for just a second and take a look at this game's 'dedicated server' support. All dedicated servers are being provided by a single company, why is it only this single company? Well, presumably, to get a monopoly on the market Gameservers paid a lot of money, or possibly is even giving part of all its profits to Activision. Now why would Activision do this? First off, more money for them. Secondly, by receiving profits from Gameservers they are to a certain extent partners, no doubt with extensive contracts at this point. This being the case (and we know how domineering Activision is), Activision will undoubtedly have a lot of control over what happens with their BO 'dedicated' servers.

So, in summary, Activision is giving a company a monopoly on their game, and in return they're not only getting a ton of money, but also extensive control as to what actually goes on on the servers. You can already see this with the specified slots and pricing for rank vs. non-ranked servers. In essence, what Activision is doing is getting all of their servers from a company that already has the equipment, making their consumers pay for these servers, and then controlling the content on the servers. They've finally gotten smart and they're using BO as experimentation for business models for the next IW game. This very diluted pay to play system they've set up is no doubt going to be expanded upon, probably through the ability to purchase money ingame. Activision is so evil...

CJ servers we'll have to wait and see since lowpings won't be able to provide a server :(
