Quarter finals are decided!

It's looking good for my World Cup winners bets, I've got £5 each on Brazil, Spain and Argentina, looks like it's most likely going to be 2 of those teams in the final :)

All 3 bets were made before the World Cup started:

Brazil: £5 bet, 6.2/1 odds, £16 profit
Spain: £5 bet, 5.4/1 odds, £12 profit
Argentina: £5 bet, 8.8/1 odds, £29 profit

The profits include each of the other £5 bets on the other two teams (i.e. if Brazil win, I make £5 * 6.2 = £31 revenue, minus the £5 bet itself, and minus the £10 I bet on the other two winning, so £16 profit overall.)

The odds themselves include getting the original bet back (that's the way they do it on Betfair, so if you're confused then it's 5.2/1, 4.4/1 and 7.8/1 odds in normal betting terms.)

Thats all I needed, I may not gamble, but I certainly know how to work out revenue and profit. Fucking statisticians and economically taught people never seem to understand, the poor and working class man has been able to work out betting odds, taxes and all things business, long before economics as a subject was taught... >.>

And in what world do we use decimal odds? My granddad will be rolling in his grave.

Sorry for saving you some time, then! :x

I much prefer decimal odds, makes it easier to quickly see which outcome is more 'likely' than the other. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I think the there was something in the news a while ago about gambling companies being forced to go decimal, but I may be wrong.

Decimal odds are for the lazy people.

Also, you seem to be using decimal-fractional odds.
6.2/1 == 7.2.

Or, let me guess, another thing you thought you would make easier for a "non LSE student".

You're right, I'm guilty of wanting to save time.

Indeed, technically, I am, although it was obvious what I meant by decimals. Everything x/1 so they can be quickly compared.
