Source is hardly based on the Quake engine. There are very few bits of code still around from the Quake engine inside it and imo Source is far superior to the sloppily modified Quake engine CoD uses.

So what engine is WaW using then ? Because in all honesty, I really liked how CoD1, CoD2 and CoD4 moved. Very smooth. But WaW felt totally different. MW2 had the same nice and perfect feeling to the movement again but I just didn't like how WaW moved.

I actually prefer BC2's movement, hitboxes, and the way the weapons feel to any of the CoD's. However, I don't like the collision detection between entities. CoD is nice, but it has a bit too much of the floating-camera-with-arms syndrome.

I seriously hate BC2 movement, it justs feel slugish and unresponsive to me.
The CoD engine is awesome, WAW did use the engine, but I believe it was modified slightly.

I just wish they'd used their tech from Mirror's Edge for BC2. I'd love to see a proper fps with that much detail in the movement.

Those are the least of my worries. It's become obvious that balance is of no concern in the CoD series.

The balance of MW2 was horrible and the release. They pretty much balanced it out by now.
