Good point Steve. I for one already know I will need a car in the future.
The reason for me not starting on car lessons yet (I'm almost 20) is because the lessons are too much money. When I have got my licence, I have yet to get a car and those aren't cheap.

I don't think you're looking at it objectivly KS. Cars only devalue rapidly if you buy a brand new car (generally). My car cost me 800 quid, when I come to sell it in about 7 months (i'll of had it for about 13 in total) I'll be able to sell it for the same price.
It probably costs me about 40pence per mile that I drive (which includes maintainance).
You can buy decent, reliable cars for less than a grand easily... I only get 30 pounds a week income and I can afford to run my own car.
There's no point of having a car if you're a University student in a city, which is why i'm selling mine before I go. I think it's best to get learning to drive out the way before you go to Uni, as you'll be too busy with work and debt after to fidn tiem to learn.

Which is why I said only run. I had to get money together from elsewhere to afford the start up costs.
