Im a happy Guy today

Post by steveuk » December 4th, 2008, 6:05 pm

Hay all. im happy today.. Went to visit my mom,as she was giving me a her old TV, But i didnt relise how big it was.

she gave me a HD-HDMI BUSH/ WharfeDale 28" Wide Screen TV with Built-in Stero Speakers. Original she paid around £400+ for it 3+ years ago.
Reason being she is moving soon and said she dont want a big TV anymore so she want me to have it as my sisters had other stuff from her.

She also gave me a VCR player, which i dont realy need, but i will give to my boy to watch his old Wrestling tapes on.
Not only that, she gave me my Birthday & Xmas Money, i thoought it would be around £50, but was wrong, she gave me £200, tho i had to spend £20 on CAB/Taxi fair to bring home the TV from her house to mine, as i dont drive a car,

So today was a real good day for me... i also got £40 on my Birthday from a couple of friends.

I know WharfeDale are a ok TV as ive had one befor and lasteed me a few years... The TV my mom gave me is around 3 years old, but is still in excellent condidtion. Workd nive with my 5-speaker surround sound system. I think it has an adaptor which might allow me to connect a Sertan lead from my PC to the TV, but will have to check later on the net as my mom chucked out the manual for the TV a while back.lol

Here's a image of the TV. Sitting next to my 19" Monitor

Image

Now i can watch some decent wide screen movies......

My mom brought another TV a 19" for herself a combi-tv with build-in DVD player and Built-in Preview channels, which she's happy about, she wont miss this big TV she said..lol

Well im happy anyways. :D

Nope some TV Ad, showed up as i was setting up to my Combo DVD/VCR player.
tv´s cant be big enough - my next one must be 56"
Dont i know it, my relitives in USA has BIG TVs 58" ones to, and man they dont have just one, one of the boys buys and sells then and i must of saw at least 8 in his house..lol

I like to get one at some stage, one that will allow PC's to be added, be wicked for game playing then.. Im not sure if i can add a PC to this one, but will look into it at some stage as it does have other outputs on it to connect video devices, like camcorders, and other portable items, like the RED/YELLOW/White Plugs on the side, it also ahas 2 SCART Adaptors and the Normal TV Arial socket

Oh i also was given some Start Trek DVDS from my mom today and im just playing one now at 2:30am in the morning as went to sleep like 6pm last nite and slepted till 2am.lol Man it sure looks strange on this 28" TV, maybe im not use to it just yet, normaly watch TV on 19" or less.lol

Good luck never lasts.

I was looking at the connectors on my PC i just picked it up without turning it off which i doubt would of matter, when suddenly somethink happened a wirly type of sound, then Blue Screen of Death, I turned of the PC and it wouldnt boot, Nothink, tried like 5 times still nothink, it kepted saying looking for IDE drive but wasnt picking up main Drive with OS on, seemed like theDRive just suddenly died on me, even tho when PC is turned on ya can fill it spinning and power running thro the drive, but it just wouldnt boot.. Went into Bios, says 0-meg, no drive name, or anythink. Yep seems fucked to me.? why it happened i dont know all i did was pick up the PC.

Well time to open my old PC pull out my Spare 250-gig drive, replace it with the old 160-gig.
3-hours later, im back up and running with limited software on, will have to install what i need later. Main thing was Norton 360, CODWAW- COD4 and a few other programs.

Will be goingto PC-World later to check on prices of a Sata-2 Drive and see if they do any special Cables to connect my GFX card up to my 28" TV.???

Back laters

Managed to get the PC working onto the TV, Fucking PCWorld told me i would need 2 adaptors, a SVIDEO cable and a Scart with the SVideo connector.. How wrong they was, and even tho ive paided for them ive opened them and cant return them.
1 the Scart adaptor is to Bigto go into the Scart socket to attached the Svideo lead. So that failed.. after checking the GFX card the darn thing has a differnt type of Svideo adaptor socket., so the Svdeo lead wont fit...

After diging throgh a few Boxes and Bags of cable i have laying around i found an adaptor cable that fited the GFX card, and required the normal Svideo cable to be connected to that adaptor cable.. Next i found outt hat where my Red/Yellow/White ports are on the TV there is a Single Svideo port there, so pluged in the Cable from PC to TV. went into Display settings and got it to show as 2 Screens, clicked thorgh the channels and hay presto, got the PC to show on the screen..

Only promble now is i cant seem to get the Colors set right, and the text is kinda un-readable on the TV when browseing the web. When i start up a Game like COD5, it works but color is still kinda Crapp.. as shown below... Intresing tho i did find out 1 usefull thing i could have the PC on the TV And still have the TV playing as 2 small screens in one.. also see below image.

I must say it fills rather strange playing a game on a 28" TV.lol even when the Normal monitor is on i had to keep going back to normal monitor to play the game more better..lol

Anyways anyone got any idears on how to sort out the text on the TV so i can read the web pages better, and view them better on the Desktop as they are realy un-readable.?????? If ya got any idears please let me know. Probly some setting on the Control/Nvada Settings somewhere.?

Quite Cloce on top in fact.lol i could try lowering the Res a little, but then that way it'll effect the PC monitor, i thim im doing it backwards.lol i need to ser the Res on the TV to make it more viewable & Playerble on theTV. But i still cant read the Text clearly on the TV/Desktop or webpages, so i have to bear with that, i mainly wanted to get the game working on the bigger screen, not theweb.lol but would been nice to get readable text for the we on the TV.?

I try sitting back a bit more see how it fills and looks.
I know some folks with 30" dell monitors
Fuck they got money to burn.lol i might update my 19" monitor to a 22" later as my desk is limited to space.lol Damm 28" takes up over half the Desk/table.lol

I've been driving my own car for about 6 months now. How expensive it all costs depends on how you drive. I spend about 10 quid a week on petrol atleast, 15 at most. If you pay insurance monthly the payments are not that bad. It's definitly worth having a car, the freedom it gives is definitly worth the costs.

If it starts to cost too much, drive it down to a disused car park and set fire to it. Oooh sweet, sweet insurance payout.
