Yeah, I'll make the most of it. Never built a PC before though, useless with bits and pieces. What are the pieces exactly that I need to fit it all together?

Case
Motherboard (usually comes with a few cables)
hard drive
CPU + cooler + thermal paste (some coolers have some already on, but worth having anyway)
cd / dvd drives
power supply
graphics card
sound card

All I can think of anyway - you will need some cables most likely as not everything will come with required cables.
Hard drive - Ive already got a 200GB drive. Is it possible that if I get, say, a 320GB HDD, i could my current as an extra at the same time so I'd have 520GB memory? Memory is a big sucker of mine, so if it is possible I would like the extra 200GB.

Ive got a DVD RW something or other, so I should just use that.

I think motherboard sound is sufficient. I will just use what comes on the Mobo most probably.

Now, ive been thinking a lot about graphics cards. The 2 cards that come to my mind when I think about building a 'gaming/home use' rig on a budget are the HD4850 and the 9800GT. Ive always been a nVidea fan, but I'm thinking the HD4850 looks a stronger contender atm.

lol, the easy half there. The only thing is when i start thinking about the other half, and it makes me have to actally look at my budget and think 'hang on a second, ive got £500 to spend'

I was thinking Q6600 processor with a HD4850. Thats £250 already, half my budget, but they are the 2 most expensive parts i believe :?: I might up my budget a little bit. Sure, it would cost more, and I would happily choose the cheaper option, but it would give me a little more stability in what i can and cant buy...

What am i looking at paying for

mobo
case
PSU
cooling system
all the other stuff that i cant remember?

and for cooling just grab a few case fans (3-4) for about £5 each.
