I wouldn't be surprised if you got no entries. Our last Christmas Mapping Competition was rather void of entries. 1 month isn't long enough (for me, at least) to create a good jump map. On top of that, most of the mappers who make jump maps are likely to be working on a project already and won't have time to rush a jump map which would be of poor quality (peds_xmas for example, which I rush made and absolutely hate).

I think mappers shouldnt make maps as long as soviet_stronghold and lev_facilities are... Theyre just a bit too long to finish in 13 min.

i think people should make maps that long and invest the time me and lev did into them before they release them. Then we can just extend the time on all the maps :)

I think you have more entries here because you only need to make a small peace of a map. So you can do that in a week ore 2.

I like short maps. But Soviet Stronghold and Lev Facilities are just awesome and well designed with original jumps.

I can't finish them on the server, I don't even get 125 FPS on Soviet Stronghold and I have a lot of trouble getting past the jump-crouch-jumps in Facilities. Even though I can finish Facilities if I can get 125FPS at all points. But I simply can't :(

We won't be able to extend the time on all the maps because of previously released maps which are comparatively short (mp_jump, for instance). You can still invest a lot of time on smaller maps which look very impressive. Sometimes I enjoy playing on smaller maps because you don't have to spend as much time on it. For example, if I want to play on Soviet_Stronghold then I know it's going to take a me a significant amount of time which I might not have, and I'll be frustrated that I don't have time to finish it.

the problem with creating smaller maps that look impressive is that annoying thing called fps. You can't really create a map with all the elements to make it look fantastic (massive amounts of detail, unimportant architecture, vast amounts of outlying terrain) without drastically dropping the fps. Of course, we all knew as soon as we played peds_pace that you couldn't comprehend fps peds :P

lol :)

You don't have to have an outside map, so that removes the problem of terrain. Just think back to peds_puzzle - basic and class :)
