If one sight is heavier the coin can be in either group because you don't know weather the coin is lighter or heavier.

Sam has posted the answer already. It is hard to understand, but it is simply a comparison of multiple weights.
Its a complex logic puzzle that is pretty hard to describe in words and no visuals.

I'll try to explain it:

weigh moment one: 1 2 3 4 - 5 6 7 8
weigh moment two: 1 8 9 4 - 10 6 11 3
weigh moment three: 10 2 7 8 - 12 4 6 11

Now / means it leans to the left, \ means it leans to the right and - is equal.

If it's coin 1 you'll get: / / - or \ \ -
If it's coin 2 you'll get: / - / or \ - \
If it's coin 3 you'll get: / \ - or \ / -
If it's coin 4 you'll get: / / \ or \ \ /
etc.

All combinations only exists ones.

Watching which side it leans to you'll know if it's heavier or lighter.

And i lost 5 euro in that bet but i won 5 euro the day before so xD
