Awesome Counterstrike Source Videos

The Quake 3 engine was, as far as games being actually modeled off of it without regard to engine similarities I'd have the disagree. However, disregarding engine similarities most games nowadays follow the CS pattern over the Quake pattern. Also, it's the most heavily modded because it's so easily modifiable. Granted, I am talking about the Source version which was released 3 years later.

Question being though, if CoD was to have ever released a source, what would be more modded then?

CS, it was and is much more popular (excluding MW2).

Well, you're probably right, but with the limited tools, there were many great near-full conversion of Call of Duty that were very successful, so I honestly believe CoD would have been a major player in the modding scene, had they released the source.

(Also, CS never released a source, because the source was already a release [Half-Life]?)
If the game were made on a retail scale using a purchased or in-house engine, would the game have been as succesful?

Well CS:Source was made retail and is, but not exactly the same thing.

Lets just leave it on, some people like Counterstrike and some people don't.
