Think of this logically.
The human eye would find this an impossible task to 'see' the ball moving towards you (the size would be a blue as static, let alone moving at that speed). Couple this together with the ability to 'hand eye' the sword into the correct position in that time and you are talking about miracles far greater than walking on water.

There is more here than meets the eye, probably a couple thousand attempts and a shit truck load full of luck. His sword will cover a small percentage of the area, so as long as the guy shooting, keeps his accuracy up, it will eventually hit. The 'ninja' does not 'slice' the ball in half, the ball connects with the sword.

Impressive? Meh.
