Yeh I believe in other lifeforms on distant planets. The universe is so damn huge... It's pretty obvious to me.

It's been scientifically proven that there are multiple dimensions, in fact 10 dimensions have been theoretically mapped out already.

That's all *imagination*... Who knows, there's only 7, who knows there's 20. :P

lol i was about to post that video myself. You have to wonder, do the guys that come up with that stuff actually know what they're talking about, or are they completely bullshitting everything?
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P

Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)

Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs

You share my thoughts. Till 5 or so it sounded logical but when they went into space dimension or whatever crap it was I was becoming a bit like ''sure whatever'' tbh.

Same Zaitsev :)

You don't know how many times I watched that to try to understand what was going on... And I'm still very confused

If your not in the mood for something very random and far-fetched, disregard the following text.

While on the subject of dimensions, when I was spacing out in English class the other day i was wondering: if we ever got teleportation devices to work, would it be considered time travel? Would it be a whole new dimension? What I think is, since your going from point a to point b that (which would usually take a longer time) in less than a second, you would be cutting out a large amount of time required to get to point b, which would theoretically be considered time travel. The problem with that theory is that you would have to consider the speed of normal travel (ex. in a car) time travel also, because if you were going slow, it would take you a longer time to get there than if you were going fast. That's where dimensions come into play... and it's also where I get completely lost

I would think about it this way:

Call the time at which you begin teleporting 0. Suppose it takes you t seconds to teleport to a different location. I would say that if the time when you arrive at the new location is greater than 0+t, then you have time travelled (moved into the future) - i.e. if you teleport to a new location where the time is greater than the time it took you to get there, it's time travel (and by time I mean relative time, not time zone bullshit etc!).

That way, it would just be very fast travelling rather than time travelling itself.

And that brings up another good point Peds, if it took you less than a second to get to somewhere that's in another time-zone than you have time traveled, and I am sure about that.

Which do you guys think we are closer to actually creating: a time machine, or a teleportation device?

Teleportation without a doubt. I mean, technology keeps getting more advanced. But as far as I know traveling through time requires you to move faster than the speed of light. And we're not even close to that

I believe we'll see regular space travels before we die. Not like the rich bastards paying millions but going on a holiday trap into space.

I think time travel and teleportation are equally far apart. Theoretically, to travel through space you have to 'conquer' space. Time, you have to 'conquer' time. Each of those are dimensions, I guess you could say. So it is a simple matter of which one we can master first.

As for the skepticism on the dimensions, just because you can't comprehend it doesn't mean it doesn't make sense or isn't perfectly logical. The average mind thinks in 2 dimensions. A person with dyslexia often thinks in 3 dimensions (that's why some of the smartest minds ever were dyslexic). So, to be able to comprehend 10 dimensions with any amount of simplicity is pretty much impossible.

Imo, the biggest obstacle blocking the advancement of mankind is human nature. Greed, materialism, conservatism, irrationality all fundamentally stop the advancement of society and technology. We will never master anything concerning quantum physics until the majority can learn to control these basic instincts.

I think in 4-5 dimensions. I must be god 8).

That video was very easy to understand, but it only described one path of dimensions up to the 10th. We cannot know for certain what the 4th dimension is, therefore the guy in the video is basically only describing one possibility of what we can comprehend as the 4th-10th dimension. So, he is only describing one dimension of the possible dimensions. He even says that "one answered would be duration" meaning that it's only one way we can describe the 4th dimension, and it branches off from that.

If I had to choose one, teleportation (for the speed of light reason), but even that is highly improbable.

I disagree - I think it'll be too costly still ;)
