An important question!

Ok so im building my own gaming computer and i had a few questions
Currently I have an Intel Core i7 920 processor but the mother boards are all like $250
I was wondering if the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 would be a good processor for gaming b/c i could get a motherboard for $120
Are quad cores going to be useless b/c of the core i7?? are games going to be made for the core i7 now?

Also, how good of a glitching video card would the XFX Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card be??
Like what fps could i get out of that??

If you guys could let me know that'd be great!!

The i7 will not make quad cores out of date as i7's are just a newer version of the quad core processor. The general quad layout is still the same. So you wouldn't need to worry about quad cores becoming obsolete.

With the quad you are talking about and a 9800gt I'd say close to 500fps constant on lowest with no lower than ~60 on highest perhaps even reaching up to 100-125 constant but that may be pushing it. With the i7 I'd say you would expect 125 constant on all highest.

I have regarded the 9800GTX highly, but I think the 9800gt is still awesoem.
