I've been seeing this website used more and more lately. I decided to try and make my own account.
I'm not sure how often I will update it, but could be useful more mapping updates. :D

Seems pointless to me. It is basically an excuse for people to think others care about them a lot ;)

Hmm thats my take, but facebook is close to that really. Although facebook more 'social'.
Facebook is to keep in touch with people you actually know in 'real life'.

or never join one of those sites in the first place. Might as well be giving out your Social security number publically if your going to make a "MySpace" or "Facebook".

Hardly. :? It would be more dangerous to pay for something using a credit card on the internet.

Twitter is useful, I heard about the CoD:WaW patch before it was posted on any forums, and news usually breaks on twitter because its so easy to post "Aliens just landed" on twitter vs "Aliens have just landed in AREA, the aliens are kidnapping human males and fucking there asses so hard they die from loss of blood, the mayor says "I cant wait to be kidnapped", local police say the aliens are a rare breed of cat known as "Fagoalienacatos". There has been no official word from the military" PICTURE. Which would be posted at least an hour after the tweet, my 2 cents.

Actually seeing as many of you barely know what it is, don't make assumptions.

It's basically a mini-blog. (blog reel)

You can embed it into a myspace or facebook account, or like me.. have it on your website. (I actually have it embedded in my blog as a mini blog reel for all the small updates etc)

Think of it as a public thought bubble.

In all honesty, I agree that it is more of a social "look at me" type thing.

But.

This is a great tool for developers, they can easily release the status of their work.
I'm getting tired of having to answer the same question about "how my map is doing" every day.

Nightmare.. that's actually a great idea.

Rather than having to sit down a write long draggin posts on a blog, small updates.. hints etc would be far better.

Fast, easier to read. (Y)

Who made any assumptions? Just because you joined it ages ago and now more people are starting to use it doesn't mean you should blindly defend how apparently great it is.
