Indeed, so it doesn't really 'ruin' the modern game in any way.Neon wrote:The fights normally happen quite abit away from the stadiums now, which is good.

You are disagreeing with a statement I didn't make? You say football violence doesn't exist (which I disagree) but the point I was making is that it ruins the game [in general].
Shouting racist slurs, threatening a person just because of the team they support, throwing objects at players. These may not be the violence of yesterday, but they still are what haunt the game today (along with the small (un/)organised fights that still do exist).
Clearly, football violence is a thing of the past:

Do American Football teams / NBA teams each have their own "gang" that exists to fight other gangs at each game?
When I watch American sports, the crowd always seems to be more cheery than English fans.

Re: Woo tomorrow going to be good
Im back now and i have to say it was an amazing experience, the trip was perfect except the result unfortunately
I hope everyone here was rooting for burnley, we still have a chance , sure its 3 goals but 2 is very possible and if we get an early stuck in and goal, we could be on with it.
So, first half burnley dominated for the most part. We both had a few chances but it was very much burnleys half. Second half we made it extremely difficult for ourselves and fucking clarke carlisle has lost the plot. Duff was unlucky, but if he didnt head it he would be told off for being a puff.
So they had 5-6 chances and scored 4, sadly they were all poor soft goals. The volley was very poor, 2 chances to clear then jensen fumbles and knocks it out of reach
In relation to drofs post:
Sorry peds, we did alright and im sure we're both pissed off with the result.
In relation to neons post about being away from the stadium, some bother was made before the match about 1/4 mile away from stadium, bookies / pub, barricaded police van formation which got everyone a bit anxious.
Still, i loved the trip, and hopefully we'll play for the win at turf, I know the priority IS the league but we still have a good chance, 3 goals is a lot but possible. Lets be optimistic, hey.
Staying at travellodge wembley so we were unsrure about ground tour but didnt have time.
All in all, fantastic experience, got a few beers down and hopefully we can keep the claret flag flying high and make a good push for promotions and show tottenham up at their place again, next year

It might seem funny but its actually quite anxious-bringing, I dont know the word cause im a bit drunk but wsome dicks in front of us started going off at the armed police, one stamped a chair off right in seat in front of me, its acrtually quite scary when youre there.Drofder2004 wrote:On a predominately male forum, I am surprised at the level of non-football fans.

Re: Woo tomorrow going to be good
To be honest, it's not very different from town centre's on a friday night. When i'm walking through town to go to a club or whatever, i'm expecting someone to start a random fight with me at any moment. Then again I feel exactly the same walking through town during daytime. It's full of chav cunts.
Re: Woo tomorrow going to be good
not much bother, burnley is much of a family club but you get the odd shithead.

Re: Woo tomorrow going to be good
I wouldn't say it is that bad, but mostly because there are more teams with more distance between them. Because of this, on a home court or field you won't have any fights. Everyone in that stadium supports their team, similar issue with bars. America is stupid that way, almost everyone supports the teams closest to where they live.Neon wrote:Do American Football teams / NBA teams each have their own "gang" that exists to fight other gangs at each game?

England is bad for people supporting teams that are located nowhere near them. They support them only because they win leagues. Glory hunting mother fuckers.Soviet wrote:America is stupid that way, almost everyone supports the teams closest to where they live.

I never said that football violence doesn't exist. It'll probably never truly cease to exist, but then again violence in other sports won't either. I'm just saying that crowd violence in the top English leagues is pretty much minimal these days. Obviously some games will have a much more tense atmosphere (such as derbies), but since the police started banning people for life and arresting etc., it's significantly decreased, and you can go to pretty much any game safe in the knowledge that there's a miniscule chance of being injured.Drofder2004 wrote:Eh?Pedsdude wrote:I would disagree. Only a minority shout racist slurs and threaten people. Clearly some people react badly to events in the game, but that's because they care about the outcome so much. You get that in anything people feel really passionately for.
As for the link you posted, that's international football, which is a completely different ball game (not literally!).
