Do you think gaming is a bit too aggressive/pro?

Post by Coontang » January 7th, 2009, 9:39 pm

I was just thinking, do you think gaming has become too much of an aggressive recreation now?

Playing call of duty 2 the other day, on a search and destroy toujane game, getting owned every game, fair enough these guys are good. Then, i get a lucky/fairly skillful 3 killstreak and all i get is 'wtf' 'fuck you' 'you gay noob'. I thought that this should be a 'omg nice' cause my score was 3 - 11 after that so i thought it would be nice to get some positive feedback.

Maybe call of duty 2 was a bad example because only the loyal players continue to play it, which is mostly clans and skilled players.

Even games on the xbox 360, if you dont play 3-4 days a week at least, you will not be any good at all.

I'm a little pissed with competetive online games now. I only ever play with friends really, or on non-competetive modes, such as codjumper.

I think the fun spirit is being lost in competetive games for just general players. Sure enough I might say 'wtf' after i get killed once in a while but its mostly a 'how the fuck did you jump snipe me from 150m away?!' kind of wtf. The gys are really good, but I think the encouragement for lesser players isnt there. I know its not a kind of lets all get better at once but it would make a nice change to play with some nice people a bit more often.

Even on games like halo 3, I was playing and my teammates were being total dicks giving it the effs and jeffs if i made mistakes. I just tried to ignore but im easily irritated and i felt like throwing my controller at the wall.

Kinda went O/t at the end, but I would like any feedback to my topic if you can be bothered

Keyboard warriors. I love them. The latest generation of kids in general seem to be all cunts. They just need to get beat up a few times till they humble themselves. That's my philosophy.

You should do what my friend does on halo 3. He acts like a retard (i.e. when the map countdown starts, he yells "VETOVETOVETOVETOVETO- SHITTTTTTT, WHY DIDN'T YOU VETO!!!!!!!!!! GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DAMMMMMMITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT").

Its great fun to listen to what the people yell back at you. It really makes the game a lot more fun, especially when you beat the other team while acting like that.

Over the years, gaming has become better and leagues were made, tournaments created, etc. I was completely and utterly surprised when i first heard of people being paid to play a game. I think that people take games too seriously most of the time and most gamers are either in their late 20s/early 30s or teenagers. I've had only around 20 friends (around my age) who have been mature, respectful, and fun enough to play with and this is over a 6 year period of time. i've played thousands if not hundreds of thousands of games (servers) and have seen everything possible in gaming, and whenever i see a kid acting like a prick, i get sick and tend to leave.

Recently, more of these people have been coming on and I'm beginning to just ignore them or make those retarded comments back at them such as "That's what she said" or "VETO VETO VETO" (referring to votekicks). Even if there are people who obviously are taking the game too seriously, you should do whatever you want to do to make it fun for yourself and actually enjoy the game.

I never play many games online now, because if the game is over 6 months old you really need to be playing it at least a couple of times a week to be any good at it. I would, anyway.

I just cant be arsed anymore. I know im only a youngster but it pisses me off when i play with people my age generally. I believe i am mature to everyone, I will only speak when others speak (I dont usually want to be the centre of attention online, but i want to have fun ofc) but tbh squeaky high voiced 13 year olds with no pubes and still feed from the mothers teat just makes me give up.

Eh, Sam?

Anyway, I think it is getting more aggressive, but I couldn't care less. If someone annoys me, I ignore them, it's as simple as that. If they say something like "omg u lucker", I couldn't care less, I'm playing to entertain myself, not to care what other people say :P

And the things Sam and I say to each other are joking most of the time / trying to put the other person off.

I know what you mean, but if you think CoD2 is bad jump on CSS for 5 minutes, drives me fucking crazy, if you haven't played it in a while you will get your ass smashed, one time I heard this guy say on the voice chat "Omg, everyone keeps texting me asking me why I'm not going to this party". I think that quote about sums up the CSS community.

CSS annoys me sooner than that. Because it's shit.

I chuckled.

But seriously, competitive gaming died the day it was born.
If you want fun competitive gameplay, join a clan near the BOTTOM of the ladder of a cup, if a clan has enough spirit to keep gaming after consecutive losses, you know these people are gaming for fun.

or, if you want. Do what I do, join in!
What is funnier than having shitty insults thrown at you? Throwing back funnier insults!

I agree about the games being made for fun part, and how competitive gaming died when it was born, +1.

I agree with Drofder about bottom teams being the best. I've been on 3, 2 were fun, 1 sucked. The 1 that sucked was an exceptionally good team. I love competitive gameplay, but only when it is mixed with fun.

I like scrims that are sorta just chilling out, everyone is friends, and if you win, awesome, and if you lose, oh well it was a fun game.

Depends on how you lose.

Sometimes I'm also flaming behind my PC because of sheer luck (Or unlucky for me). But I never say so in-game. :P

I hate those fucking nade throws which have been practised 100 times though, they suck.

Thats the thing, I know people know the best spots in maps etc but what annoys me is the synchronised tactics that you need to work on. Its a fucking game, I even hate people who play for cash because theres a line between social free time and a career.
