Impressive, although they concentrated too hard in certain areas and made other areas look poor in comparison (i.e. the eyebrows and hair).

I understood the "disease" to be schizophrenia or an ageing related form of dementia. When he finds the disease in his own blood sort of represents the characters self undestanding of his own dementia. There's some other symbolism like the Ark's landing on the island being the same as the petri dish stuff. The other residents of the Ark are obviously members of a retirement home when you watch back.
