the most genius ipod touch/iphone app ever

Post by Coontang » December 27th, 2008, 7:57 pm

Hey. I dont mean the ipod 'genius' bullshit. I mean an application called 'remote', the most useful, simple, handy tool you will ever need on an ipod.

Basically, you need a wireless router. Connect your ipod up to your computer with the cable and your itunes should find your ipod device' playlist or something. Click this and enter the pin code that is given to youon the ipod itself, then feel free to disconnect your ipod and take it anywhere. Then simply open up 'remote' on your ipod and choose your track, it will automatically play from your computer. almost like a docking station, but without needing to dock. This can be unbelievably good, especially when gaming, you have no control other than minimizing the game or using a windowed box. On this tool you can select albums, artists, just like you can on the main ipod device's music player. From there you can change ITUNES volume, fast forward rewind set up playlist, shuffle, repeat, genius (the tool),pause, everything you can when you play music through the ipod. All you require is itunes to be up (not minimized or else when you change tracks or whatever it will fuck up and minimize your game/screensaver/vizualization.) and to be connected to the same router your pc is. I find this a fantastic tool because I can now play music through my speakers AND play games without tedious closing of programs.

If you have songbird (which you should get if you don't have it already) than you can get a remote for it as well. It's not really o good program to run in the background while playing CoD because it takes up a lot of CPU, but it's still a sick program. It's like iTunes but with a web browser and add-ons and much more. It's also powered by Mozilla, which means it's automatically amazing.
that's a nice pic and all, but out of all the pictures you could have taken why'd you take a picture of a plant? :P

Because plants have some really small details. If a plant comes out nice in a photo, you have yourself a good camera ;)

Yes, but if boobs come out really well in a photo you have a picture of boobs

I need a low usage program. Itunes is fantastic but every few seconds it eats a chunk of cpu making the game pretty much freeze. how annoying is that? Perfect for anything else but gaming big no no.

Is there any other program you can recomend?

This is all well and good, but iPods suck :P

Well, they don't suck, but until they sort out the battery life there's no way I'm going to get one again for quite some time. I used to have a 20GB 3rd generation one, which worked fine for a year or two, and then it stopped working and would cost £200 to fix. Since then I bought a Cowon iAudio X5L, which has 40 hours of battery life and it's served me very well since I bought it about 3 or 4 years ago.

The use I have for my iPod is as a CD player for my car using the iTrip. I prefer my normal mp3 player as a walk about thing.
