free HDTV, 43' :D

Post by Infinite » December 18th, 2008, 3:47 am

Today, my dad apparently was looking on the internet and found a 43 inch HDTV which was broken and the people were giving it away, and to make it better, it was in my neighborhood! So, he replied and they emailed him back saying that they could help us load it into our car and bring it back home to fix it, so we brought it back to our house (the house was literally 100 yards away) and when we turned it on to see the problem, we found out the problem (well, actually my dad did since he looked it up xD) and in the end, we only need about $50 to fix it. So basically we got a 43 inch HDTV for $50, as opposed to the retail price which is about $500-$600 (it isn't a flatscreen, those are in the range of $700-$800). So, it looks like I'm going to have a nice christmas playing Guitar Hero:World Tour on an HDTV :>. The tv is actually now the biggest in our house, so its pretty exciting for me and my family lol. I would post pictures, but i don't have a working camera which is mine (every1 else in my family has one but won't let me use theirs xD).

I don't know much about TVs, but i think the conversion board went bad (there's a green line going across the top of the TV, and about 1/3 of the TV has RGB color separation and it looks a bit funky).

Atleast, that's what i think is wrong xD.

Well i got my 28" Whafedale HDMI free of my mum as ya most likely know as i posted it in a thread already,

but $50 to fix a $4-$500 TV is'nt to bad i spose, but like said above it not realy classed as Free if ya had to spend out on a repair job, lets just say ya got a Half working TV for $50 .lol

Ive seen a few free TVs around myself out on the Street, but just these old 14-15" TV sets, old ones that no-one wants, but ment to work.. I did pick up a TV from outside someones house about 2 years ago, it had a Remote with it to, all it did'nt have was a plug on the end.lol so i picked it up and took it home stuck a Plug on turned it on and a perfect picture came up.... Still got the TV in working order, but lost the remote controll in the house somewhere.lol

Another thing i picked up around that time was a PC base unit, it has a 2-gig processor in, 150-gig HD, 12X DVD Writer, Windows XP installed, 512 Meg Ram, There was no Keyboard or monitor, but i knocked on the door where the PC was and no-one answered so i just took it.lol got it home pluged it in and it worked first time, thats how i found out the above spec... 6 months later Hard Drive died, so PC Sits here doing nothink untill i get another drive for it.

But all in all 2 FREE items in a matteer of a year cant be bad. lol
