Well I've already tried Modsonline and IWnation with no results, so I'm just going to hopelessly try here as well. My reflections won't compile. To quote my topic at IWnation:


I completed a large section of my map for CoD4, and I wanted to compile it with lighting. So, I did all the necessarily things. I have covered my map in light grid texture, I've properly portalled every area, I've added one reflection probe to each portalled area, and I do not have any primary lights that I am aware of. However, every time I click 'Compile Reflections,' the compiler comes up for a split second, too short to see anything except a black flash, then it disappears. It does this no matter how many times I do it. I've tried skipping it and compiling fast file and running the map. However, when I do it has the stupid red tint to it. So right now I'm stuck as I don't even have an error to work off of.

I had the same Problem ,then i played the Pac-man Game with devmap and collect the most of the points ,then the red tint was gone ! But why was the red tint before I do not know.

That's weird. The volume light grid/collecting dots gets rid of rainbow tint on models, not red tint. I might try it though, I'm pretty desperate.

Alright soviet this doesnt really help your situation but cod4 has a nice nifty feature that you can view what the lighting will look like without even compiling the map you can do it in radiant... There is a tutorials on modonline...

no I'm not, I have scripting though and I'd like the lighting with the scripted objects to be able to see how it looks more.

Try this...

Navigate to the CoD4CompileTools Folder
Find a file called "cod4compiletools_reflections.bat"
Open that file in notepad or similar.
At the end of the file, but BEFORE "cls", add the word "pause" on its own line.
Now the black window will stay open.

Report back.

Ok, nothing wrong with the bat, but we are going to modify it a little.

Make a copy of the bat as a backup and then go into edit the original bat.

Delete everything and change to

Firstly change "DIR". This need to be changed to the directory which contains "mp_tool.exe", the root cod directory is default
Second change "MAP" to your map name.

Save and double click. CoD4 will open and will hang for a bit and then flash lots of images, then close.
Reflections compiled.
