Well, whenever I try to turn on my computer now, it comes up with a message saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".
I've done some googling, and it turns out I need to go into my BIOS or something or other, and change the primary boot device.
I'm pretty uninformed when it comes to the hardware side of computers, so any easy to follow advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
I'm currently using a computer in my accommodation, so it's not mine, and I'll need my computer running ASAP as I have exams currently and need it for revision.
Anyway, I'm gonna head back to my room now and attempt to fix it with the information I got from my search.
Hopefully I'll be replying to this thread on my own computer in a few minutes time!

Re: Computer booting issues
I would check and make sure your hard drive(s) and well as your cd rom and floppy drive are connected firmly to your motherboard at both ends. After that, when you change primary boot devices just make sure it is changed to the hard drive windows is installed on. If that doesn't work use your recovery disks you made for Windows (if you made them) and set the primary boot device to floppy. Or, you could set cd rom to primary boot device and try a repair on windows.

The grammar nazi is back*
Turns out my (reasonably new) 500 GB hard drive has stopped working for absolutely no reason. Fortunately it was my 2nd one which only had torrents on it. I've lost about 400 GB worth of torrents, but at least I still have my C: drive running fine!
