I wonder how many other mods have similar things embedded in them :o

I'm not sure what to say tbh, I honestly think it has been blown a little out of proportion, but then I have not seent he code itself.

Firstly, the RCON stealer, does not actually steal it, it displays it on the screen. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying what he done was OK, it was fucking stupid and is, imo a bannable offense, but in no way was it a "back door trojan" as that would imply he was taking and storing all the server IPs and Password.

Secondly, I fail to believe he would use this other than for bots, heres why. To be able for his mod to recognise him as "kill3r" it would require him to be using the exact name in the mod (Kill3r) and would also have to be his PB_guid. So, on a public server, he would be easily identified, why would he create an aimbot that required him to be using his own name, especially since he has the RCON of the server, he could easily have made a dvar which allowed him to use another name.

Just for those interested, the script he used was actually just a simple bit of advanced maths (:P), just to work out the angles that a player/bot would be required to be set at, to aim at another player.

Conclusion, he is stupid for releasing his mod with these sections of code NOT commented out or removed, and for that, he shall pay the price. He is now banned on pbbans, he is banned from a few forums, his mods and maps have all been removed and many, many servers will stop using his mod.

Lets just hope, that these codes were not as malicious as people are making out. (and if anyone gets hold of the code, I really need that GUID recognition thing for a section for the CJ mod :P)

drofder we use guid recognition type system for BFE mod... basically store everyones guid in a database inside the mod (doesn't auto add players, we have to do it and update the mod) - then we set what rank, platoon, squad and name they have - then when they join it'll automatically set their name, and "rank" - thus we can have settings like Choppers for players rank 10-15 (Officer ranks) and then only officers can use choppers :)

Any chance I could have a look at the source of just that small section alone.
the part I was having trouble with is detecting player GUID in script... (although come to think of it, are our servers even running PB Sam?)

I think 1 of them might be running PB. Major flaw in the testing? lol.
Potentially, yes. It also doesn't help that I also do not locally test with PB on :S
