COD5 announced

Post by Rezil » May 10th, 2008, 4:46 pm

Activision has announced that Call of Duty 5 is in development and is scheduled to hit the store shelves during its 2009 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2009. Call of Duty 5 will be available for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and DS, as well as for Wii and PS2. Word is: "For Call of Duty, we'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to yet a new military theater, to engage our significantly larger user based, which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise".

Source: Gamershell

Is Activision turning into EA or what? Seems CoD is going to be released every year from now on like the NFS, NBA, NHL, etc. series. Sad, really. :(

"new military theater"

Any guesses what that could be? ... If its space or Halo-esque, Activision deserve a slap.

MY prediction is that this news is incorrect. I doubt there will be a PC version.

Same creators as CoD3. So it will suck. I've seen a news thingy on our forums that it's about the pacific.

I don't think the water effects on Wetwork look bad.

I totally agree, but it's pretty obvious they aren't going to change the gameplay from cod4. Everyone seems to love it, so it's simply a question of what they'll do with the rest of the game. Graphics are the biggest part of that, and they have never done water well. True, wetwork was decent, but compared to most games it is still pathetic and always has been.

Yeh, Pacific. Japs :)

So, expect (If it is indeed Pacific) a full scale Pearl Harbor Omaha Beach like Assault then...

So true :(

There is only rumours of its era and war, but it will not be a war CoD has seen, so the most likely story is Pacific although ruling out Sci-Fi would be silly as a lot of sci-fi/futuristic games have a big market.

PC is not a rumour, but apparently a fact, there words are 'all four platforms', which I can only translate into, PC/Xbox/PS/Wii.

Gameplay will very likely differ from CoD4, Treyarch use a completely different engine that is 'home-made' (Treyarch NGL), so gameplay will likely change. Also, expect vehicles.

Indeed it was. Let's see if they can actually get vehicles to working well in multiplayer though.

This is very good news, CoDJumper's lifespan has possibly increased by a few years!
