Why wouldn't it think that? So you're saying it would be more like "Oh my, a bear is going to get me and this glass doesn't look nearly thick enough to protect me."

No, Zaitsev is saying that the baby is not mentally developed enough to comprehend the existence of glass, and thus safety. Can you even grasp the slightest bit how the human mind develops and works?

I'm assuming the polar bear is roaring aswell and that would be in human nature to be afraid of it. So if the kid isn't scared, it must feel safe for some reason. That may be the glass.

yeh, I think I'd at least jump back a bit if a bear slammed up against the glass and roared at me, no matter how thick the glass was. I think the kid is just mentally retarded
