Image Viewer & Convertor.

Post by steveuk » February 7th, 2008, 12:06 am

Ok i want a program if any around to View IWI & DDS files.
Also a GOD easy to use Program to conver IWI, DDS to the .MAP file
I want to use some of the graphics used in the single player game, i know there is thousands we could proberly use.

ddscv_1_20 dont work
iwitodds Dont even run for me
IWI_X_DDS kinda works i grab and paste files into the box and it converts hen rather quickly,The i use DDS convertor to View them, but once converted i cant use in Radiant to load in as models.

Is there a program that will convert the IWI directly to .MAP files please. if so let me know the programe name and download links

You are confusing everything...

Firstly an IWI is a image file created by IW. There is no viewer other than the game and Radiant...
To make it viewable you need to use the IWItoDDS convertor. Read the instructions on how to use it, as this program does NOT have an interface and is 0% user friendly.
Once converted to DDS you can use many image editing programs to view it, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and other software. you will need plugins for the first of the 2 in that list.

Why would you want to convert iwi files to dds?

Iwi files are an output file, created whilst converting an image into a file used in radiant.

So iwi are what are loaded into radiant.

======== Brief ==========

Save a picture .jpg

Convert using Asset manager

Open Radiant

Look in texture window

That's it. lol
